Nova turma de Comunicação em Língua Inglesa

Olá pessoal!

No dia 30/07 começaremos mais uma turma do Curso de Comunicação em Língua Inglesa. As matrículas online estarão abertas a partir de 18/06 no site www.eliasmoreira.com.br.

·         Curso de Comunicação em Língua Inglesa:

O curso tem como objetivo preparar pessoas que trabalham, ou passam a trabalhar, em atividades que precisam de comunicação em inglês voltada para o mercado de trabalho. Além de trabalhar os livros de inglês (do Básico 1 ao Intermediário 2), tem módulos de tradução, intérprete, oratória e psicologia . A comunicação das aulas é em inglês. É um curso concentrado, e sua carga horária de 800h equivale a um curso de 6 anos numa escola de idiomas normal. São dadas as ferramentas para que o aluno fale inglês ao final do curso.

Início próximas turmas: 30 de julho  de  2012;

Duração: 15 meses;

Horário: 2ª a 5ª, das 19:00 às 22:30;

Once upon a time, a boy was late for his Math class and the weather was terrible. He was going to the police, but he was lost. So, came and ideia: call a taxi. So, he went to the class, but his cellphone was broken because he let it fall. Far away, he saw a plate of a taxi, but all the lines were so long and it was raining and he didn’t have an umbrella. He walked 1 hour to get a taxi. The taxi came in front of him. He was so happy but he didn’t have money. So he kept walking, until he found a bus and enter in. It was so crowded but it was better than nothing. The traffic was awful and there were many cars on the street. He got to the class and when he came home he was sick.

He was late for the Science class. The weather was terrible, the boy was lost in the avenue. The numbers were confusing and his cellphone was broken. The bus was crowded and the traffic was awful and he still got the cold. He couldn’t arrive in the school. He was angry.

Courses abroad

The students of Curso de Comunicação em Língua Inglesa were able to learn more about courses abroad last week. They were able to get information about the options, prices and dates so that they can make plans for the future.
Going abroad is an excellent opportunity to meet new people, visit new places and practice their English. :)

Nossos alunos do Curso de Comunicação em Língua Inglesa puderam conhecer um pouco mais sobre cursos no exterior na semana passada. Foi possível conseguir informações sobre as modalidades de curso, valores e datas para poderem começar a fazer planos para o futuro.
Uma viagem ao exterior é sempre uma ótima oportunidade para conhecer novas pessoas, novos lugares e praticar Inglês. :)

Yard Sale 2012

On May 2nd and 3rd our students took part in our annual Yard Sale. The aim of this activity is to discuss about the American Culture, the importance of reusing objects to save the environment, the value of these objects and the practice of conversation in English.

Nos dias 2 e de 3 de maio nossos alunos participaram de mais uma edição do Yard Sale. O objetivo dessa atividade é falar sobre cultura Americana, a importância de reutilizar objetos para não prejudicar o meio ambiente, o valor dos objetos e a prática de conversação em Inglês.

American Cookies

Our Teens 2 students baked some delicious cookies yesterday.
The recipe is simple and the whole class was conducted in English.

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, andbaking powder. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

Grammar Hint

Present Perfect: have / has + past participle

When we use the Present Perfect the action in the past has a connection with now.

Ex: Susan really loves that film. She´s seen it eight times.

Susan has seen the film eight times from a period of time that continues from the past until now.

Cooking Class

Teacher Ana Paula and her students had a blast learning new vocabulary and practicing conversation in a fun cooking class on April 20th. Everything looked delicious!!!!

Teacher Ana Paula e seus alunos se divertiram muito aprendendo novo vocabulário e praticando conversação numa aula de culinária muito legal no dia 21 de abril. Tudo estava com uma cara deliciosa!!!

Formatura Curso de Comunicação em Língua Inglesa

Dia 14/04/12 tivemos mais uma formatura do Curso de Comunicação em Língua Inglesa. Estamos muito felizes pela conclusão dessa etapa e desejamos muito sucesso a esses alunos tão queridos.

Last week Teacher Ana Paula had a Fashion Show with her students. It was a nice opportunity to practice new vocabulary and conversation.

Na semana passada a Teacher Ana Paula fez um desfile de modas com seus alunos. Foi uma boa oportunidade para treinar o vocabulário novo e praticar conversação.

Yard Sale at Elias Moreira

Yard Sale

Quando a primavera chega ao hemisfério norte, é hora de começar a arrumar a casa e o jardim. É nessa hora que as pessoas se dão conta de que têm muitas coisas que ainda estão boas, mas que não tem mais utilidade. Surgem então as famosas “Garage Sales” ou “Yard Sales” que são eventos informais para a venda desses bens nas garagens ou mesmo nos jardins das casas.

Para garantir o sucesso da Garage Sale ou Yard Sale colocam-se cartazes nas ruas, muitas vezes com balões de gás para chamar atenção, ou ainda se distribuem panfletos ou mesmo se anuncia no jornal local. No dia da “Sale” o vendedor mostra seus produtos para os transeuntes ou para quem responde aos anúncios.

Grande parte dos produtos são semi-novos, e às vezes é possível até mesmo encontrar coisas com caixas e manual de instrução. Geralmente esses produtos são colocados à venda porque o proprietário não quer ou não precisa mais do item em questão, ou até mesmo porque precisa de mais espaço.

Nestas “Sales” podemos encontrar de tudo que se possa imaginar desde roupas usadas, livros, brinquedos, quinquilharias domésticas, equipamentos desportivos, jogos de tabuleiro e ferramentas de jardim. Até itens maiores, como móveis e eletrodomésticos, ocasionalmente, também são vendidos.

As Garage Sales ocorrem mais frequentemente nos finais de semana com tempo bom, e normalmente têm horários designados para a venda. Estas oportunidades ideais para  pessoas que estão à procura de pechinchas ou de itens raros e incomuns. Obviamente incluem uma certa negociação, mas na grande maioria das vezes o valor não chega a 5 – 10% do valor de mercado. Enfim uma ótima oportunidade de conhecer pessoas e ainda fazer bons negócios.

Easter Traditions in the USA

Festivity knows no boundaries and this especially stands true in case of Easter. Celebrated all across the globe with much pomp and vigor, Easter is one time when people bury their differences and come together in hordes to rejoice this day. Every nation has its own way of celebrating a particular festivity. Every country has some unique traditions and customs. For example, it is the tradition of America to conduct special Easter parades, where men and women flaunt their special costumes and colorful bonnets. Being a major celebration in the Christian calendar, Easter is celebrated with much fanfare. The Easter traditions in America mark the arrival of spring and the period to celebrate the rebirth of Jesus Christ. During Easter traditions, one gets to witness parades, carnivals, Easter egg decorations, music and much more. Every year on Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras carnival is hosted in many regions of the USA. New Orleans is a major venue for the Mardi Gras carnival. Decorated floats are prepared by different groups of people in the carnival. The Easter bunny forms a major part of the Easter traditions in America. So, if you happen to be in the USA during Easter, make yourself a part of the traditions and enjoy the most fun-filled festival.
